Tags:

THE BURNING STREETS is a band from Boston, MA. which is starting to sound really loud around the U.S. and now Europe I had the pleasure to interview this young quartet during their tour with Far From Finished and I had the luck to be the first person to interview them in Europe!! Read this interview which features the weird story about their friendship with Far From Finished after an equipment robbery.

Why The Burning streets?
Burning streets: Nah we won´t answer that hahaha!! Our biggest influence was Joe Strummer from The Clash and burning streets was one of their songs and one day we were listening to this song and we thought that it could be a great name for the band and it just worked, it stuck and it makes sense to the band because we are on the road most of the time.

For how long Burning Streets exists and who are the members?
Burning streets: Chris is the drummer, Steve at the guitar, Drew Guitar and vocals and Mike on the bass. The band started 3 years ago basically this month we are celebrating our 3 year.

What are your lyrics about?
Burning streets: Being alive, do everything you can do, Friendship, we have a good amount of friends at home and a good amount of friends at the road so we think friendship and music is pretty much of what music is about, we have being writting a few songs about the same thing but with different words and of course a lot of fun stuff.

Who or what are your main influences text and music wise?
Burning streets: I said for some of us Bouncing souls and anything related to them but honestly being on the road is definitely better than making burritos, but something that really inspire us is mmmhh I guess girls (laughs) but some other influence that we have from some members is some blues or in the other hand we like bands like social distorion but other fact in general is the way people are in different places for example here in Europe we get food, a place to stay, etc... It´s a mindblowing organization for punk shows in here and you making the interview with us are some things that we don´t get bck in the U.S. and that is a great motivation, Talking about motivation is when we remember for example me(Mike) That my firt show was a Dropkick Murphy´s concert and I was like wow! I want to do what this guys do and then we got along with the guys from Far From Finished and 3 years later we are touring with them in Europe, Is weird because this bands are bands that we looked up to for so many years and now they are your friends that´s what makes punk rock different to any other music it makes you to be friends with other bands and not rivals, but the most positive thing is when you get back a good feed back because it makes you feel like you wee doing things good back at home.

Who is supporting you to tour in Europe now, which agency or record label?
Burning streets: In the U.S. we are with Sailor´s grave records and through them we were directed to I hate people records in Europe and IHP records are the people who is setting our dates in Europe and helping to make this happen and we are very thankful they have been so good on this tour is way better than in the U.S. we noticed how professional and prepared are the agencies here in Europe.

What were your impressions when your European tour was confrmed?
Burning streets: We were like no waaaay!!! we couldn´t believe it, and we heard from so many bands from the U.S. like Born to lose, Far From Finished and others who all the time said that is not like home because peole they just want to see music and dont matter who you are, where you come from, people in Europe like to see bands
enjoy good beer so nothing compared to some places in the U.S.

How did you get to know the guys from Far From Finished?
Burning streets: This is a really weird story, kind of interesting. Ok so one month before we started officially the band we were sharing our practice room with a friend´s band and one day we went to practice and the whole equipment was taken, robbed and it was the equipment of 3 bands and our room had a survilleance camera so 3 guys busted in so we posted the stuff online and the weird thing was that Steve from Far From Finished saw thatand he was like oh fuck poor guys were stolen and then he started posting the stuff and all of a sudden a lot of people came to us like we´re sorry, whatever we can do for you and we just knew the guys from FFF like after their shows just like hey guys cool show tonight! you played really good! etc.. it wasn´t really any friendship or anything so we were really lucky thanks to Mark, pesky, Steve the members now are different but talking about the band itself they were really helpful for us, because as a punk band you will always need help and after that we used to give away some demo Cd´s in the FFF merch table we are really grateful too with the Welsh boys, The bruisers, death from texas we played with them some shows a few years ago, then we had the chance to go to Canada andwe just want to say to those kids who stole our equipment WE LOVE YOU, Thank you guys.

Do you consider that Boston is a street punk mecca and why?
Burning streets: Yes it is!! We haven´t being in a band for so much time but we toured a big pat of the U.S. and there is not a city that have the friendship that Boston has concert wise talking is like when you go to a show in Boston by yourself or with a friend you are like in a party at someone´s house you already know everyone and you dont even have to put up a flyer for the show because people know about it anyway is almost like Europe. Is like a lot of bands now come from Boston and you know inmediately that they are from Boston for example the Street dogs, Far from finished, Dropkick Murphy´s, Ducky boys or even bands like The Unseen who started like street punk, street rock so we think Boston will be alwys considered a Mecca.

Shout outs!!
Burning streets: This is fucking awesome!!when we go back home we will start to record our next CD and we will come back to Europe next year and during all that time we will make big tours in the U.S. Our next Cd Is going to be produced by Marc and Adam ex FFF so they are working with us writting and stuff so we ae really excited about it and then start from there.
